Founded in 2002, the Jefferson Barracks Heritage Foundation is a not for profit 501c(3) organization whose goal is to create a museum complex honoring the service and sacrifices of the American Citizen Soldier, Volunteer and Veteran on the grounds of the Jefferson Barracks Historic District.

In 2006, the JBHF began restoration of the Red Cross Building located at 96 Worth Avenue on the western end of the parade grounds. This building has served several functions since it's construction in 1942. Most recently as the office of the Honor Guard for Funerals at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. With Restoration complete in 2007, it is now the headquarters of the JBHF and home to the Wall of Honor.

Future plans for the JBHF include additional interior remodeling of our building 96. An extended parlor for the purposes of celebrating the citizen soldier is in the planning stage as well as a parlor commemorating the contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers and an extended Ulysses S. Grant library. Beyond these, our long range plans include taking possession of additional historical Jefferson Barracks buildings for the purposes of further expansion of these three themes of the citizen soldier, the Buffalo Soldier, and the Grant Library.
